We’ve all been there. That awkward moment when you’re paying the bill for a service and you don’t know whether or not you should leave a tip or not. This happens frequently in the moving industry as most of us only move once every five years, which is why we’re providing you with a few tips on tipping!
Am I required to tip my movers?
You are not required to tip movers. As with any industry, tipping is never mandatory and you should never feel obligated.
How much should I tip my movers?
As a standard, most customers tip around 10%-15% of their final bill or $10-$30 per mover. But, always know that the amount that you choose to tip is completely up to you. If you want to tip more or less you have the power!
Should I tip in cash or by card?
You’re also probably wondering whether you should give a cash tip or tip by credit card. Either is appreciated, but cash tips are typically preferable, because it’s easy to distribute amongst the team.
Who should I give the tip to?
You may also be wondering who to give the tip to at the end of your move. Our crews consist of a crew leader and two helpers. Depending on what you feel comfortable with you can give each crew member their individual portion of the tip or you can give the tip to the crew leader to divide later.
What if I can’t tip them?
If you can’t tip your movers one of the best ways to say thank you is through writing a review on platforms like Yelp, Facebook, Angie’s List, or BBB. Why? Because then other potential customers will request your mover by name.
Tipping is nothing to stress about. Just know that the amount and whether or not you leave a tip at all is completely in your hands. To complete the package of figuring out how much money to set aside for your coming move, we’ve also created a guide for controlling the length of your move and the cost of your final bill!
