The selected crew arrives on time, in uniform, with a clean 3 Men Movers truck and all supplies/tools necessary to do the move. Our crew lead will walk through your space with you to:

  • Determine where the closest stairway or elevator will be
  • Determine what is being moved
  • Check items for pre-existing damages and note
  • Check for items that require waiver signatures (washer/dryer disconnect, moving televisions, etc)
  • Determine what needs to be disassembled and reassembled during the move
  • Confirm the rates and estimate and have you sign the contract

  • Moving blankets to cover hard surfaces and prevent items from rubbing together during transit
  • Tools to properly disassemble/reassemble furniture/other items

Execute Loading The Truck

Execute Loading The Truck

This is where we shine. You’ll appreciate the care, efficiency, and hustle that our movers exhibit throughout your move. Typically one of the three movers is focused on loading the truck itself, while the other 2 movers are focused on bringing belongings from the house to the truck. This accomplishes the following:

  • Our movers load the truck in a manner that makes the best use of space, which will both prevent damage and reduce the possibility of a second trip
  • A mover in the truck adds a level of security to prevent theft

Second Walk Through

Second Walk Through

Once we’ve emptied your space of all belongings that will be moved, our crew will perform another walk through with you to determine:

  • All of your possessions to be moved are accounted for
  • We make sure that we have all of our tools and equipment back on the truck
  • If we’re ready to travel to your destination location

Destination Walk Through

Destination Walk Through

When we arrive at your destination, our crew leader will walk with you to determine where your possessions are to be placed and arranged. Then our crew will:

  • Begin the process of protecting floors
  • Unload your belongings per placement direction
  • Reassemble any furniture necessary
  • Remove any shrinkwrap or move materials used during the move

Final Walk Through And Completion

Final Walk Through And Completion

Once we’ve finished unloading the truck, we perform one final walk through to make sure:

  • Items are placed in rooms and spots per your wishes
  • We’ve cleaned up any packing materials used during the move
  • We’ve reassembled anything taken apart during the process
  • If we’ve used any elevator equipment, that it’s clean and ready for next use
  • You’re happy with the finished product

After completing the final walk through, our crew leader will stop the clock, provide you the details of total hours worked and the final bill for the services completed. You pay and we all get to relax, knowing that the heavy lifting is done!

If you really want to relax, you can book one of our packing/unpacking service crews and rest while we take care of everything.

Top Questions About Long-Distance Moves

What is the cheapest way to move long-distance?

The most cost-effective option for long-distance moves is usually renting a truck and handling the move yourself. You'll only pay for the truck rental, fuel, and insurance. However, keep in mind the hidden costs like physical labor, the risk of damaging items, and the time spent driving. In some cases, hiring a professional moving company may be a better option to avoid these challenges.

Is it cheaper to use pods or a moving company?

Pods (portable storage containers) can be cheaper for smaller moves and if you have the time and energy to pack and load everything yourself. However, when moving long distances or with a larger volume of items, the total cost of renting and returning the container can end up being close to or even higher than hiring a moving company. Moving professionals offer the added benefits of speed, safety, and peace of mind.

What is the lowest cost form of long-distance transportation?

Renting a small moving truck (like a 10-15 ft truck) and handling the move yourself is generally the least expensive transportation option for long-distance moves. However, if you have a large number of belongings or lack the experience to drive such a vehicle, it might be better to consider hiring a moving company or using a hybrid approach to save both time and money.

Introduction to Long Distance Moving

Long-distance moves, whether across states or the country, bring unique challenges that require careful planning. From packing and transportation to settling into your new home, the process can quickly become overwhelming without the right help. Hiring a reputable long distance moving company is the first step toward a stress-free experience.

To simplify your move, it’s important to start early and consider key factors like moving costs, service options, and logistics. The right company will offer tailored support and help manage every stage of your relocation. This guide will walk you through how to choose the best movers and what to expect from their services.

Choosing the Best Long Distance Movers

Selecting a trustworthy moving company is crucial. Look for movers with excellent customer reviews, industry experience, and comprehensive service offerings. High ratings and awards are strong indicators of reliability and customer satisfaction in long distance moves.

Ask for multiple detailed quotes that cover packing, loading, transportation, and storage services. Avoid vague or suspiciously low estimates. A good moving company should be transparent, experienced in state-to-state or cross-country moves, and offer the flexibility you need.

Understanding Available Moving Services

Long distance moving companies typically provide a wide range of services to meet different needs. Common offerings include packing, loading and unloading, storage solutions, and even debris removal to make your move more efficient and less stressful.

If you need temporary storage or help packing fragile items, many companies offer climate-controlled units and partial packing options. Some movers also provide post-move cleanup to help you settle in more easily. Be sure to ask what's included in your quote.
